“Brothers don’t shake hands, brothers gotta hug!”

(Name the awesome movie that line came from.) I am sharing the latest bit of humor from Aaron Johnson, my favorite photography cartoonist, that illustrates the negative experiences I was talking about in my last post.

Aaron is another person that I give credit to for helping me in my photography profession progression, because his oh-so-accurate comic strips have brought me much-needed laughs and relief from the stress of it all. It really helps that someone truly understands the daily struggles of the professional photographer, the creative blocks, and the, uh, quirks of potential clients.

So, a shout-out today to Aaron Johnson! Check out more of his awesome comic, “What the Duck”, here.

Hurrah for HTML!! (a.k.a. Update on “Website Facelift”)

If you read my last post, you probably got a sense for just a bit of the frustration I’ve had with the design tools offered by Microsoft for my website. In particular, I was bugged by the fact that my design looked great in Internet Explorer and pretty messy in Firefox. This Calvin & Hobbes cartoon is a visual of my feelings over the past week.

Be assured, my friends and fellow Firefox enthusiasts, that I was NOT going to let this issue go. After many more hours of work and personal study of HTML coding, I have improved the design so that www.breeherbert.com is now just as viewable (and pretty) in Firefox as it was in Internet Explorer!

Take a moment to look through my new website using your browser of choice and let me know what you think. (Also, send me a message through my contact page if you experience any problems or issues while exploring the site.) I’ll be in a dark room, resting my LCD screen scarred eyeballs.

And now for the business report…

I think one of the more overlooked sources of “art in life” are political cartoons. Not all qualify, of course, but I’m often struck by the amazingly realistic illustration and compact witticisms of political cartoons, the social commentator’s art. Plus, it is always equal-opportunity skewering of donkeys and elephants and everyone in between.

This one is by Joe Heller – makes you want to laugh and despair at the same time.
